The USAID Rule of Law Program supports awareness-raising activities that help citizens engage with justice system representatives.
On November 17, 2023, the Prevention for Progress (PFP) together with the Civil Engagement and Activism Center organized a meeting of the local community with Tetritskaro Regional Court judge Badri Niparishvili. The action was part of the Rule of Law Program-supported project “Awareness Raising about Judicial System in Marneuli and Bolnisi Municipalities.” This project raises public awareness about access to justice and the importance of a fair trial among the ethnic minorities living in the municipalities of Marneuli and Bolnisi.
In his presentation, Judge Niparisvili spoke about the court’s role in protecting citizens’ rights and the country’s EU integration process. 13 participants attended the meeting and received answers to questions related to the hearings in regions, including the timeframes of court hearings, and land registration.
The meeting participants welcomed the opportunity to meet an acting judge and emphasized the necessity of putting on such events. This was the second meeting organized with the participation of a judge which gave locals a unique opportunity to get information directly from the judge on court-related issues.
