The East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) seeks an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Advisor for the USAID Rule of Law Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of the Program is to help establish an independent, accountable, well-functioning and people-centered justice system in Georgia.
Reporting to the Chief of Party (COP) and Deputy COP, the ADR Advisor will perform the following functions:
** Develop and implement program initiatives to improve quality and accessibility of Arbitration and Mediation practices, as well as improve public awareness about them;
** Develop a methodology and strategy of supporting Arbitration and Mediation associations and other institutions (including judicial institutions) involved in ADR;
** Advise on legislative and policy reforms regarding ADR;
** In coordination with CSO Advisor, develop possible grants support initiatives in the area of ADR;
** Engage with Program`s international experts in the area of ADR, including drafting of scopes of work and providing direction and guidance to them, and with support from ADR Specialist provide substantive and logistical support to them;
** Where appropriate and consistent with expertise, teach or co-teach ADR courses sponsored by the Program;
** Supervise the work of the ADR Specialist;
** Participate in relevant workshops and conferences; and
** Contribute to implementation plans, monitoring and evaluation reports, quarterly reports and other such deliverables as requested by the COP or DCOP.
The successful candidate will possess:
** University degree in law. Postgraduate education in the area of ADR will be considered as an asset;
** Expert knowledge of ADR principles, practices and relevant Georgian legislation;
** Good knowledge of justice system in Georgia;
** At least 5 years of work experience in the legal and/or development field, including prior experience as mediator or arbitrator and/or working on ADR support and promotion;
** Fluency in Georgian (native level) and English (both written and oral); and
** Strong interpersonal, communications, and interpersonal skills.
