Human Rights Through the Lens - Photo Competition for Students

The USAID Rule of Law Program is announcing the "Human Rights Through the Lens" photo contest. This contest invites students from the regions of Adjara, Imereti, and Samtskhe-Javakheti to showcase their perspectives on human rights, freedom of expression, democracy and rule of law in Georgia through photography.

Who Can Participate?

  1. Any student currently enrolled in a higher education institution in the regions of Imereti, Adjara, or Samtskhe-Javakheti.
  2. Photos can be taken with either a digital camera or a mobile phone [minimum 3 megabits is preferred].
  3. The photos should focus on human rights issues and convey a clear message to the public.
  4. Participants are allowed to submit multiple photos, but each one must address a different theme.
  5. Entries should not have been previously published on social media or in any media outlet.
  6. Any photo found to be plagiarized will be disqualified.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Relevance to the theme of human rights.
  2. Originality and creativity of the concept.
  3. Quality of composition and color balance.

Prizes:

A jury will select the top three photos, with the following prizes awarded: 1st place: 1000 GEL; 2nd place: 700 GEL; 3rd place: 500 GEL.

The winning photos will be featured on the USAID Rule of Law Program's website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Terms of Participation:

By submitting your photo, you confirm:

  1. You are the owner of the photo and hold full copyright.
  2. You grant the USAID Rule of Law Program the right to use your photo for promotional and awareness purposes (with full credit to the photographer).

How to Enter:

  1. The deadline for submissions is November 30, 2024.
  2. Photos [minimum 3 megabits is preferred] must be sent electronically to mmakharashvili@ewmi.org
  3. Along with the photo, include a brief description of the story behind it (maximum 150 words), as well as your age, region, and contact number.
  4. Please use "Human Rights in the Lens" as the subject line of your email.
