With the USAID Rule of Law Program support, the Prevention for Progress (PFP) and the Civil Engagement and Activism Center (CEAC) organized eight meetings with citizens in the Bolnisi and Marneuli municipalities where they informed them of their rights and explained how they can better access the court system to defend their rights and resolve disputes.
The two organizations held the meetings over an eight-month period, from June 2023 to January 2024 in regional centers and the villages of Aghmamedlo, Sadakhlo, Darbazi, Savaneti, Mushevani, and Kasumlo.
A total of 133 individuals participated in these sessions, reflecting high community interest and engagement. The participants discussed such topics as human rights, court documentation, the availability of free legal aid, and the common challenges faced by citizens while interacting with justice institutions.
The groups identified several problematic issues including the competence of interpreters, the need for accessible legal assistance, and insufficient information on the legal procedures. To enhance public knowledge, organizers distributed a guide covering the key aspects of court proceedings in both the Georgian and Azerbaijani languages.
Local media outlets, including Radio Marneuli and Interpress.ge, covered the events which helped the program reach a wider audience.
