Georgian Bar Association Holds Communication Training for Employees

The Georgian Bar Association (GBA), supported by the USAID Rule of Law Program, conducted a training session to enhance its employees' communication skills, thereby boosting the quality of interactions with the association's stakeholders.

Conducted on May 21, the training involved 12 participants from the Department of Analytical and Committee Activities, Ethics Commission, Administrative Department, and Training Center.

The session, led by communication expert Irina Bregvadze, integrated both theoretical and practical components to build essential communication competencies of the participants.

The training covered several areas, including understanding the goals, processes, and steps involved in effective communication. It also addressed hindrances to communication by identifying and mitigating factors that delay communication effectiveness. Strategies to enhance communication quality were discussed, alongside the recognition and utilization of non-verbal communication such as body language. Participants assessed their personal communication strengths and weaknesses, learned persuasive argumentation techniques, and practiced presentation skills.

One of the training participants, Nino Macharashvili expressed appreciation for the training, stating that the knowledge gained will help in both work and personal relationships. "Understanding the theoretical norms of effective communication and gaining practical experience will enable better cooperation with colleagues and lawyers, as well as those who interact with the Association. Effective communication is key to gaining trust and satisfying the interests of the other party."

Levan Suramelashvili highlighted the personal benefits of the training, noting, "The acquired knowledge will help me control myself more in my relationships with others and focus on my emotional weaknesses to correct them. It will also help me analyze the emotional state of others and direct communication accordingly."

The USAID Rule of Law Program is committed to continuing its support for the GBA's dedication to ongoing professional development and effective internal and external communication, setting a standard for excellence within the organization.
