In November-December 2023, with USAID Rule of Law Program support, the Imereti-based civil society organization Informational Developer HUB (IDH) organized seminars for ten young people from educational institutions in Kutaisi on human rights issues. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Legal Aid Service’s (LAS) Kutaisi Bureau.
LAS representatives Esma Norakia and Gela Siordia equipped students with information concerning children's and women's rights, as well as rights related to freedom of belief. In particular, the trainers discussed Georgian legislation, existing challenges, and opportunities to protect the rights of these groups, as well as comparing Georgian and international practices.
IDH selected the participating students and asked them to create three thematic board games on the rights of the child, women's rights, and freedom of belief. Reflecting on the experience, Mariam Kodzakhidze, a tenth-grade student, stated, “I think that knowing about our rights allows us to become more active members of society, therefore, the topics that have been selected for the training will be useful not only for this project but also beyond it."
The IDH’s project implemented with the USAID Rule of Law Program support aims to enhance young people’s understanding of human rights by engaging them in creating board games and organizing pilot game sessions for students in Kutaisi.
