During October 30 – November 3, 2023, with the USAID Rule of Law Program support, the New Vision University Legal Ethics Chair, in partnership with Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, conducted a week-long legal ethics crash course for law students.
The crash course helped students understand the ethical dimensions of decision-making in advocacy, enabling them to manage the ethical challenges they will encounter in their legal practice. The course included a series of lectures explaining the legislation regulating legal practice, as well as a comparative analysis of Georgian, U.S., and European regulations on lawyers’ professional responsibilities.
The course was led by Ms. Ana Loria, who is the New Vision University Legal Ethics Co-chair, as well as a member of the Georgian Bar Association (GBA) Ethics Commission and the Georgian Association of Arbitrators (GAA), In total, 31 students participated in the crash course, out of which 19 fully completed the course and received certificates.
The New Vision University Legal Ethics Chair, with the USAID Rule of Law Program support, has already conducted four crash courses in regional universities.
