The Public Defender of Georgia satisfied A.G.'s complaint and found that TV personality Shalva Ramishvili sexually harassed her. The Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) litigated the case with USAID Rule of Law Program support.
According to the factual circumstances of the case, in 2018, "POSTV" representative Shalva Ramishvili contacted A.G. and invited her for an interview. During the meeting, Shalva Ramishvili asked her questions of personal nature, made negative and sexually suggestive comments about her appearance, and engaged in unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature.
Based on A.G.'s application (in 2023), the PDO studied the case and determined (in January 2024) that Ramishvili had sexually harassed her by attempting unwanted sexual contact and creating an offensive and humiliating environment.
The PDO also found Ramishvili's comments about A.G.’s body and appearance a form of sexism that encouraged discrimination based on sex/gender. The PDO relied on the evidence presented by A.G. to reach its decision. Ramishvili did not cooperate with the PDO and presented no arguments to the PDO to refute the allegations.
