Mariam Shikhamirashvili previously worked as a coordinator at the European University Scientific Research Institute of Law and was the technical editor of the international scientific journal Law and World, which is the periodical of the same institute. 

She also has experience working in a managerial position, including serving as the case manager in a private school. She received a bachelor's degree in law from the Georgian National University and a master's degree in law (civil (private) law) from the Georgian Technical University.
